Our hypnotherapists are Angie Giles and Caroline Tisdall.
Hypnotherapy uses the power of the mind to help heal emotional and physical problems. By helping clients to achieve a relaxed state stress in naturally reduced and then unwanted behaviours or beliefs can be addressed. For some people it's a surprise as they find that they remain in complete control whilst being hypnotised. There are many types of psychological therapies but hypnotherapy is distinctive in that it attempts to address the subconscious mind.
In practise a hypnotherapist often (but not exclusively) requires the client to be in a relaxed state, enlisting the power of the client's imagination and using a wide range of techniques from story telling , metaphor or symbolism (that are meaningful to the individual client) to use of direct suggestions for beneficial change.
Analytical techniques may also be used in an attempt to uncover problems deemed to lie in a client's pastor concentrate more on a client's current life and presenting problems. It is generally considered helpful if the client is personally motivated to change (rather than relying solely on the therapist's efforts)although a belief in the possibility of beneficial change may be a sufficient starting point.
Hypnotherapists combine hypnotic procedures with other appropriate counselling and therapeutic techniques.
Regardless of the techniques employed by the therapist a client should feel comfortable and at ease. To help with this Angie Giles and Caroline Tisdall offer a free initial consultation to potential clients.
Unlike many other psychological therapies hypnotherapy is generally considered a fairly short term approach in which beneficial change, if it is to occur, should become clear within a relatively few sessions.
